Mr. Meitiner has more than 40 years of experience providing interim management services to clients in the retail industry, including some of the world’s largest specialty retailers. At Carl Marks Advisors, he focuses on the strategic implementation of business development improvements, organizational turnarounds, and market share analysis.
Mr. Meitiner previously served as President and CEO of The Museum Company, a national 105-store specialty retail organization that maintained a strategic partnership with the Smithsonian. He conducted turnaround management on behalf of the private equity owners, managed the Chapter 11 bankruptcy process and emergence, updated the business plan, secured support for it and the DIP financing, and sold the company to Kier Group. As President and CEO of Sephora USA, a specialty beauty retail concept, Mr. Meitiner launched and adapted international retail concepts for the US, launched a company website, opened 70 stores in 2.5 years, and drove and revised business strategies. Mr. Meitiner also previously served as COO of Fortunoff Group, a third-generation family-owned department store where he was responsible for all operational disciplines, including serving as Director of the two competing family boards and supporting the sale of the company to private equity owners.
Mr. Meitiner earned his Certificate, Distribution Management Principles, from the College of Distributive Trades, London, UK and a National Retail Certificate from Eastbourne College.
