Mr. Meitiner has over 40 years of experience providing interim management services to clients in the retail industry, including some of the world’s largest specialty retailers. At Carl Marks Advisors, he focuses on implementing business development improvements, organizational turnarounds, and market share analysis. He specializes in crisis management, business model redesign resulting from sector disruption, development of growth strategies, executive coaching and implementing change.
Mr. Meitiner previously served as President and CEO of The Museum Company, a national 105-store specialty retail organization that maintained a strategic partnership with the Smithsonian. There, he conducted turnaround management on behalf of the private equity owners, managed the Chapter 11 bankruptcy process, updated the business plan, secured DIP financing, and sold the company to another private equity company. Prior to that, he was President and CEO of Sephora USA, a specialty beauty retail concept owned by LVMH. There, Mr. Meitiner launched the international retail concept in the USA, launched sephora.com, opened 70 stores in 2.5 years, and implemented revised business strategies for the USA market. Mr. Meitiner also previously served as COO of Fortunoff Group, a third-generation family-owned department store, where he was responsible for all operational disciplines, including serving as Director of the two competing family boards and supporting the sale of the company to private equity owners.
Mr. Meitiner earned his Certificate, Distribution Management Principles, from the College of Distributive Trades, London, UK, and a National Retail Certificate from Eastbourne College.
